This unit focuses its studies on the conditions for a transition of agriculture and rural territories towards a sustainable ecologisation. It analyses the determinants of agriculture dynamics in relation to the integration of environmental goals, at several scales: cropping and farming systems, farms and territories, agrifood system.

At territory scale, a specific emphasis is on the reconnection between consumers and producers (CSA, farmer’s shops…). It gathers researchers from different disciplines in social sciences (economics, anthropology, sociology) and biotechnical and natural sciences (systemic agronomy and animal husbandry, ecology).

The agronomists involved in the project Mireille Navarrete and Arnaud Dufils are experts on analyzing farming practices in relation to the agri-food systems and developing participatory methods with agri-food actors to design more ecological farming systems. Valérie Angeon is a socioeconomist. Her domain of expertise is the analysis of sociotechnical and socioecological systems, co-design and economic modeling.

The main participants are: Mireille Navarrete (WP1 co leader), Valérie Angeon, Marion Csagrande, Arnaud Dufils.

The total number of the staff is around 30, PhD and post-doc people included
